Owning up to your own crap

Yesterday my wife and I were in Kmart and a woman in a scooter was bumping into the displays and made a comment about the store putting items in her way. We were looking at each other and said the same thing, "If you weren't so fat you wouldn't have that problem. We see it every time we go out in public, people who think that the world needs to cater to their every want or need. When in fact if you would get off the couch and do something and lose all that gross FAT hanging off your mid section you wouldn't have any problems. I see it every time I go the the hospital. The people who work there are in worse shape than the patients. They are supposed to be setting the example of how to live a healthy lifestyle and maintain a good physical condition. One woman was so grossly overweight that when she got into the car the front tires were rubbing against the wheel wells. This country has gotten to the point of disgusting when it comes to how we are eating ourselves into obesity and death, just like that woman on the Operah show the other day. She died of a heart attack because of her fatness. You didn't see people overweight in the 1600, 1700, 1800 hundreds. They didn't have TV , computers, video games countless conveniences we have today. All these conveniences have made people lazy!! Quite frankly I'm very disappointed in what America has become, fat and lazy!

Taboo of All Taboos

The word "diet" has become the taboo word in the English language. I don't know how many times I've cringed every time I heard that awful word. People automatically think when they hear "diet" that it's time to stop eating! Not true. I don't believe in the word diet because it's not about that. It's all about being able to eat what you want in moderation. You don't have to eliminate all the favorite foods in your everyday diet. That's just torture. People have made millions on gimmick diets that simply do not work because you end up limiting yourself to foods you really don't want to eat all the time. A good diet involves eating what you want in moderation and common sense planning of your daily intake.

The human body adapts to routine and we all need to change it up every now and then. My idea of a so-called diet is eating whatever I want well within moderation and making sure I get the needed daily exercise which could be anywhere from a walk around the block or working out in my own home. Everybody is different as far as how their body breaks down and uses calories they take in and work off. This is all common sense. If you eat a lot of fast foods and you see yourself gaining weight, that should be a red flag. Time to step back and realize you've got a problem. Your occupation has a lot to do with what you can get away with eating. Sitting at a desk all day doesn't mean you need to be eating 3 whole meals a day. Limit your snacking to healthy choices throughout the day and lay off the high calorie sodas. That's the killer right there. If you laid off the soda and maybe switched to diet soda, you'd lose a lot of water weight and calories.

If you are wanting to lose some pounds but don't want to diet, then don't. It shouldn't have to be called a diet. Just common sense eating and exercise which in turn means eating in MODERATION and making an effort to exercise just like back in the day! There wasn't any acai berry treatments back in the day. Everything was done naturally and the way nature intended. Not all this colon cleansing crap and stomach stapling. Get off your butt and do it the old fashioned way, the way it was intended. People had to actually work for a living and not run to the nearest fast food joint to fill their gullet with all that grease. There is no quick fix out there. No berry is going to fix it, no surgery is going to fix it, we were not born fat. It's a learned habit that's out of control. Have a little respect for yourself and eat right.

Let's face it. None of us like that fiendish word "diet." It's scary! I personally hate that word. I watch these talk shows and they go into people's houses and take everything out of their house that's supposedly not healthy. It may not be healthy but you can still eat it but in moderation. You should never have to limit yourself on what you want to eat, but, rather, how much you eat at a time. That's the key! If you don't eat big meals, your stomach will shrink, and, as a result, you will lose weight. It won't take as much food the next time you eat. Like I said, get to know your own body and then go from there. Those moronic gimmicks will not help. It's all on how your body works and nobody is the same. Listen to your body and answer it the way nature intended.

The Medical Field is one of the worse offenders. They come up with a new study almost every month saying if you eat this you can lose weight. Then a month or two later there's another study by some other institute saying the exact opposite. Take a good hard look at what you do and what you eat every day and plan accordingly. If you're not hungry DON'T EAT!! Listen to your body. You crave certain foods because your body needs it. Just watch how much you eat. Don't eat like it's Thanksgiving at every meal. That will stretch your stomach and the next time you eat it will take more to fill you up and so on, and so on, etc etc etc... Next thing you know you're 100 lbs over weight.

The bottom line is you can eat what you want but have some self control and know when to take the fork out of your mouth!! The reverse side of this coin is "EXERCISE". Diet alone won't do it.

Fresh Food VS Processed Food

Obesity. The epidemic of the 21st century and lo and behold you find yourself a part of it. I look around on a daily basis and see all these people with the huge spare tire hanging clear to their middle thighs. This is not healthy! This causes so many physical ailments, not to mention the money it takes to fix the problems that could have been avoided in the first place. Diabetes, considered one of the most dangerous ailments due to obesity, leads into kidney failure and even death. Who in their right mind wants to die because they can't put the fork down? Another major problem that will really come into play in later years is the stress on your joints, especially the knees. Have you seen the cost of knee surgery lately?

Stop super sizing your portions! Nobody needs that much food in one sitting. Not to mention, eating fast food is not a healthy choice. Staying at home and cooking fresh food is the absolute way to go. Eating out should be a treat in moderation. We all like to go out to eat, but we are in control of our own choices. Make the right food choices and you will notice a difference in mental and physical health. For instance, by drinking one less 12oz can of soda a day you would intake 52,195 less calories which equals almost 15 pounds a year. Not to mention, that same can of soda is the same as taking 10 teaspoons of sugar mixed in water and drinking.

One good start would be to eat smaller portions more often throughout the day. The next step is to get up off the couch and take a walk or go outside and play with the kids. The key here is to do something, anything that will increase your metabolism and burn off what you just ate. Then last but still very important is to stop eating after a certain time every night. About 2 to 3 hours before going to bed, and NOT getting up in the middle of the night and raiding the frig.

Life is full of choices and losing weight is a major lifestyle change which requires motivation and commitment. Just like a marriage, it takes lots of work in the beginning but the pay off in the long run will make life so much more beneficial. The lessons you will be teaching your kids will pay off as well, with childhood obesity being in epidemic proportions this will be a lesson they can live with everyday.

It's human nature for people to want to help others and that's exactly why my wife and I are writing to the masses of America. Everybody seems to want that instant gratification these days but there is nothing fast about losing weight and being physically fit. It's a life long goal that will become second nature in time. Just think of all the money you can save by planning your diet with a little effort in exercising every day. You don't have to join a gym and make someone else rich. The money you would spend there you can use to buy a few items to use in the privacy of your own home on your time schedule.

That's why we opened http://www.Waistmelting.com, to help people meet their goals and to inform them of the benefits living healthy can do for them. It's just us trying to help people. Look at all the professionals that are doing the same thing. But when it comes from someone that are just like you it has a little more realism.

Husband and Wife team who want to help people lose weight and stay physically fit for a life time through education, planning a diet and exercising. The old fashion way of staying healthy and maintaining a lifestyle that won't break the bank. We both work for a living and stay in good health with a practical diet and exercising on a regular basis. We have done the research and have applied that knowledge through practical application of diet and exercise in our own lives. Come visit our website at http://Waistmelting.com and interact with others on the Hints and Tips page.

4 steps to get started

The first step is to see your doctor. I can't say it enough, get a complete physical and ask questions about your family history. Believe it or not family history has a great deal with how you will progress with your goal of losing weight or trying to maintain your current health.

Step Two: Take a good hard look at how you live you life. More specifically what you eat and how often you eat. Most people eat more than they think. Even at work, if you have an office job think about how often you get a drink or snack on something while working. Then look at what that drink is and what that snack is. 9 times out of 10 it's junk. By changing what you eat and drink you can lose weight. All it takes is a few minutes to plan ahead and prepare something at home the night before and take it to work.

Step Three: Get moving! Take the stairs whenever possible. Walk Walk Walk. You would be surprised how just walking will burn off calories. I see people walking on their coffee breaks and at lunch all the time. Then when at home make a date with your partner in life and do something together. It's a proven fact that working out with a partner will give you a better outcome. There is a coffee house that I frequent and every Saturday a group of people meet and jog or walk together. Or make it a family deal, get the kids involved. The point is to get up off the couch and do something.

Step Four: Relieve stress. Take a good look at what makes you stressful, and make a plan to reduce or completely eliminate those situations that cause you stress. We had a saying in the military called the 5 Ps; Prior Planning Prevents Poor Performance. This applies to everything in life. Try it, I think you'll find it helpful.

new years resolutions

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY!!
SO HERE IT IS THE NEW YEAR AND MOST EVERYBODY HAS A RESOLUTION TO LOSE WEIGHT. WELL THAT'S A GOOD THING TO DO, BUT, MOST PEOPLE WILL LOSE INTEREST ABOUT FOUR WEEKS INTO IT BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO GO THE DISTANCE TO ACHIEVE THE RESULTS THEY DESIRE. ASK YOURSELF, "DO YOU LIVE TO EAT OR EAT TO LIVE?" OVER 60% OF AMERICANS ARE OVER WEIGHT!!!! AND ITS VERY HARD FOR PEOPLE LIKE ME TO FIND CLOTHES THAT FIT BECAUSE THE INDUSTRY IS FOCUSED ON THE MASSES AND NOT THE EXCEPTIONS. DON'T GET ME WRONG I HAVE BEEN OVERWEIGHT IN THE PAST AND HAVE MANAGED TO KEEP THE WEIGHT OFF AND MAINTAIN A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE. THERE ARE CERTAIN EXERCISES I DO THAT SLIM THE WAIST LINE GUARANTEED. I HAVE HAD 4 KIDS AND CURRENTLY A SIZE 3, OH, AND ALSO 45 YEARS OLD. SO I HAVE EXPERIENCE AND KNOW WHAT WORKS FOR ME. I DON'T BELIEVE IN DIETS!!! ITS ALL ABOUT MODERATION AND GOOD OLD FASHION EXERCISE!!! THERE ARE TOO MANY GIMMICKS THAT DON'T WORK. SURE THEY MAY GIVE YOU SOME RESULTS AT THE BEGINNING BUT FALL SHORT ON THE LONG TERM GOAL. I'D LIKE TO HEAR FROM ANYONE WHO HAS A SIMILAR OUTLOOK ON THE MATTER.. AND CAN SUGGEST ANYTHING THAT MIGHT HELP OTHERS TO ATTAIN THEIR GOALS.
